We have the pleasure of hosting Heike Fricke, musicologist and organologist specialized in musical-instrument provenance.
In her talk “Tracing Objects, Reconstructing Networks: Provenance Research into Seven String Instruments Formerly Owned by the German Reich”, Dr. Fricke will present and discuss with us her latest research, a provenance investigation commissioned by the German Federal Government into fine historic string instruments formerly owned by the German Reich. Two case studies show how fragmented records, conflicting attributions, and possible alterations to labels or instruments complicate identification and obscure transfers of ownership.The talk argues for an integrated archival, organological, technical, and digital approach to provenance research.
A Q&A session will follow the presentation.

Nel suo intervento "Tracing Objects, Reconstructing Networks: Provenance Research into Seven String Instruments Formerly Owned by the German Reich" [Tracciare oggetti, ricostruire reti: la ricerca sulla provenienza di sette strumenti ad arco appartenuti al Reich tedesco], la Dott.ssa Fricke presenterà e discuterà con noi la sua ultima ricerca: un'indagine sulla provenienza, commissionata dal Governo Federale tedesco, relativa a pregiati strumenti ad arco storici appartenuti al Reich tedesco. Due casi di studio mostrano come documenti frammentari, attribuzioni contrastanti e possibili alterazioni di etichette o strumenti complichino l'identificazione e ne oscurino i passaggi di proprietà. L'intervento sostiene la necessità di un approccio integrato — archivistico, organologico, tecnico e digitale — alla ricerca sulla provenienza.
