Next Friday, October 23, our Permanent Seminar Series continues with our next keynote speaker, Emily Worthington, as she presents her talk: "Historical Performance as Practice Research: Towards an Interdisciplinary Epistemology".
In this seminar, we will investigate an epistemological re-framing of the field of Historical Performance. Drawing on theories of practice and embodiment from across the humanities, alongside examples from her research on 19th-century clarinetist Carl Baermann, Dr. Worthington proposes a long-overdue update to our understanding of practice and embodied knowledge — one with significant implications for 'disembodied,' non-practicing historical research.
A Q&A session will follow the lecture.
